What do You Need to Do?

1.  Choose a science related question you have always wondered about.

2.  Check with your teacher to make sure this question is appropriate for this project.

3.  Collect information from conventional sources such as books and magazine articles

4.  Search the Web using the URL's in [Cool Sites] as well as others you might find, to      gather more information.

5.  Record the sources of all information correctly.  Use the guidelines given in [Web Hints].  (you must use at least 4 different sources; 2 must be Web sites and must be linked to your page)

6.  Make a simple outline of the information you have found, to help you organize it into a logical order.

7.  Conduct an interview with an expert on your topic either in person or by email. Experts can sometimes be contacted through one of URL's in [Cool Sites].  This interview must include at least 4 questions that you have not thoroughly answered in the text of your Web page.  You must also give a short biographical sketch of your expert, explaining why he/she qualifies as an authority on this subject.

8.  Meet with a few other students who are researching related questions ( Your teacher will assign you to a team).  Discuss how your questions are related and design an Introductory Page and a Response or Feedback Page.

9.  Write a few paragraphs we will call "Reflections", in which you relate your thoughts on the answers to these questions:
        a.  What do you feel you have learned about your topic, that you never knew before?
        b.  Was your answer clearly communicated using a Web page? ( Or could you have done it better another way?) Explain what you mean with a few examples.
        c.  What improvements do you still want to make in this project?  Or if you could do the whole thing over again, what would you do differently?

10.  Create a Webpage consisting of 4 main sections:
        A.  The answer to your question- including at least 2 diagrams, pictures or graphs
        B.  A list of the sources used
        C.  The edited text of your interview
        D.  Your "Reflections"
These sections must be linked to each other and to the Introductory and Feedback pages!

11.  Post you project on the school server and ask another team to view it and send you feedback:  praise and criticism.
Then if there are changes necessary, make them!

12.  Publish your team Project on the Web for the whole world to see and appreciate!

13.  View 2 other Projects, summarizing what you learned from them on the "Response"sheet supplied by your teacher
