Give it a Test!

After reading through a Web site, ask yourself if it would help others learn something important or was it a big waste of time?  What criteria can you use to decide whether a site is valuable as a resource or not?  Below are some Web page features that are characteristic of  good resources.  Rate  the site you are viewing by giving it a score for the quality of each feature listed.  Points should be 5=excellent, 4=good, 3=OK, 2=not very good, 1=poor, or 0 if the site does not have that feature.

                                                                                                                             TOTAL=______

The total possible score on this test is "55".  So a web page with a score of 45 or higher should be well constructed and quite reliable.  However,  the scores for #7 and #9 should always be "5" or the site will be of little value as a source for a research project or paper.
