Good, Clean, Dangerous Fun

If you haven't yet read my other Dangerous posts, you may want to do so before continuing so that you'll know what I'm talking about.

120 foot water balloon

So, Today I ran across a post about a 120' Water Balloon Experiment.  It appear to be a father and three boys creating as large a water balloon as they possibly can.  They end up using surgical tubing.  When they finish creating two water balloons (or worms), they them proceed to have a water balloon fight.

Watching them made me wonder if they're homeschooled.

Anyway, check out the site and the accompanying video.

How to Stop answering the phone and reading mail

I found a great article that give all sorts of tips on how to check your voicemail without calling in, and how to stop using the postal service entirely.

Playing with Photo Booth

Rebekah and Joe It's pretty neat.  You can take a straightforward normal picture, or apply digital effects.

Here's another person's addition to the list of lost skills

Believe it or not, too many people would rather wait three hours than change a tire.  Is the art of tire-changing becoming a lost skill?

I saw an episode of The Office recently where a large group of co-workers were returning from a trip to the mall when their minivan had a flat.  The only male in the group came up with one excuse after another for not changing the tire.  After a minute or two of this, the receptionist took charge and changed the tire herself, even though she had never done it before.  Unfortunately, this type of can-do attitude is no longer common.

Time to learn some dangerous things

The Dangerous Book for Boys I had heard (well, read) several people mention The Dangerous Book for Boys, and it really struck a chord with me.   When I described what was in it to my youngest brother, he also wanted a copy of the book.  After all, we don't know how to tan a hide, how to hunt and cook a rabbit, or anything about the Battle of Waterloo.

Something that's been in the back of my mind for quite some time now was, despite our obtaining academic degrees far more advanced than prior generations, why do those from previous generations seem to know how to do almost anything and we don't?  How did they learn these things and why is it that we didn't?
