On Saturday we spent our first night away from home and introduced Rebekah to Grandma Pearson, who had brought a bunch of kids to the States for space camp. We stayed with her at a hotel near the Atlanta airport.

A number of factors may have caused Rebekah to be a little fussy that night - the change in her diet, general evening fussiness, being in a different place - but she certainly didn't seem to like Grandma very much! I felt so bad for Joe's Mom as she tried everything she could think of to calm Rebekah as she held her.   Unfortunately the only thing that soothed her was being handed back to Mommy or Daddy.

We were anxious to see how Rebekah would respond to being away from home overnight because we'll be traveling to Maryland and to California in November.  I don't think we can base all of our expectations on this particular night because I'm sure the change in diet and the daylight savings time change might have had something to do with how she responded.  At our very late bedtime (even with the added hour), Rebekah was not ready to settle down for sleep.  We tried all of our normal things to no avail.   Finally I got her a bottle of formula, and she slept for at least 8 hours.
