By 2AM Sunday, the contractions were certainly keeping me quite
awake, and were coming 3 minutes apart. I couldn't sleep, so we called our midwife,
Nyasha, and she offered to meet us at the hospital. We drove there, and every bump on the
road seemed to come right in the middle of a contraction. After checking into the
hospital, one of the nurses hooked me up to the fetal monitor to see how the baby and I
were doing. Everything looked fine, and I was certainly having some pretty strong
contractions about 3 minutes apart. Nyasha examined me and discovered that I was 1 cm
dilated and 50% effaced. We were given the option to go for a walk in the hallway and see
if that helped things progress, or to go home, and at Nyasha's recommendation we went home
to try to sleep.
